Pioneer Park is still in its early stages. Whether you live locally, run a business, represent a community organisation, work in the area or simply care about West Cumbria’s future, we want to hear from you.
What matters most to you?
As the emerging master plan develops, we are asking people across West Cumbria to share their priorities, ideas and concerns.
What types of jobs should Pioneer Park help create? How can we make sure local people have access to training, apprenticeships and long-term career opportunities? What should the development mean for local businesses and supply chains? Could clean energy bring wider benefits to nearby communities? What improvements to transport, infrastructure, local facilities or the environment would make the greatest difference?
Pioneer Park aims to support new industries and opportunities across areas including advanced nuclear technologies, clean energy, robotics, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence and research.
This could create new pathways into engineering and construction, energy operations, digital and data roles, technical services and other skilled employment. We also want to understand how the project could support apprenticeships, re-skilling, higher education, research and opportunities for local businesses and start-ups.
The emerging plans also explore how reliable, low-carbon energy could support future growth and potentially deliver broader local benefits.
Beyond jobs and energy, we want to hear what wider community benefits people would value most. That could include better transport connections, improved community and leisure facilities, environmental improvements, support for young people, local funding programmes or stronger opportunities for local suppliers and services.
